Latest scientistic studies of the University of Missouri-Columbia conducted by Marc Hamilton, associate professor of biomedical sciences, show that the enzymes in our body responsible for burning fat simply shut down when we sit for a longer periode of time. These enzymes - called lipase - are suppressed after sitting for several hours and the fat is transported to adipose tissue, which is connective tissue where fat globules are stored. The fat is then retained and the overal rate of metabolism is reduced.
 
However, when we stand up from time to time and walk around or bounce a bit on a rebounder, the fat-splitting enzymes stay active and continue to do their job!
