Bellicon's Bungee Band Rebounders

Since when are the bungee band rebounders on the market?

More than 15 years ago you could already buy bungee band rebounders in the US. They were made by individual tiny companies and non of these manufacturer exist any longer.

Today you can find a company that produces a bungee band rebounders with a single bungee band. The Bellicon bungee band rebounders however, which are made with 30 or 36 high elastic bungee bands, are on the market only since the year 2004 and on the US market only since 2006.

Sometimes companies that sell spring based rebounders tell customers, that the bungee band rebounders are of a very inferior quality. This might apply to old bungee band rebounders, but definitively not to the top quality Bellicon rebounders.

What makes the Bellicon Bungee band rebounders so special?

  • Their extremely soft bounce that give a kind of "massage to the spine" together with the "flying feeling".

  • The fact that they are customized to the weight of the customer: medium/strong/x-strong bungee bands. (Bellicon is actually in the process of producing ultra-strong bungee bands).

  • The Bellicon bungee band rebounder is the most versatile rebounder. It is so soft that nearly everybody can use it. It takes 85% impact out of the joints and it can carry a weight of up to 320 pounds. This allows a bounce from extremely soft - our oldest clients are over 90 years old - to a heavy duty workout.

  • The fact that the rebounder is 4 inches higher than a spring based rebounder, allows a higher/deeper bounce and with that provides a higher G-Force than a spring based rebounder. As a result of this, you get an intense workout in less time.

Does the Bellicon bungee band rebounders make me pronate?

A rebounder cannot make you pronate. You either pronate or you don't. And if you pronate, you do this in your normal life.

The rebounder acts here like a magnifying glass and shows you a habit that you have. It is very helpful to change this habit as it is not healthy to pronate in daily life.
It is your muscles in the feet that hold your feet in the correct position. If these muscles are weak, you can train them. In most cases you just have to consciously put your feet in a 90% angle towards the floor (or the rebounder mat) and this is all it needs.
You can find all of this information in detail on our website > menu option "Pronating".

Are the bungee bands of a toxic material?

When you buy a Bellicon rebounder, you invest in quality. The higher price you pay, allows Bellicon to use only the best material available.
German quality controls are very strict and Bellicon has even certified their bungee bands according to the European Union Oeko Tex Standard class1. This is for baby articles and means that a baby can put such an article in his mouth. It is certified that the bungee bands do not contain any toxins.

When would I use a 39" bungee band rebounder and when one of a diameter of 44"?

The bounce of the 39" and the 44" is the same. Both use the same bungee bands.

The 39" rebounders have a bouncing area of 27". They are made for people who are under 5'8 who either have only limited space or what to have a rebounder that is portable. The 39" rebounder can be taken in an airplane as second luggage (if transported in a round carrying case).

The advantage of the 44 ' is that the bouncing area is 5 inches larger. People that are taller than 5"8 usually prefer this larger size.

What is the minimum required Ceiling Height?

The minimum required ceiling height is your height plus 1 foot 8 inches.

If you have lower ceilings, there might be the possibility to use shorter rebounder legs (8" instead of the normal 12") combined with stronger bungee bands. The upside: You can use a bungee band rebounder in a place with lower ceilings. The downside: As you would need stronger bungee bands than you would normally do (with 12 inch legs), the bounce will not be as "bouncie".

Spring Based Rebounders from Bellicon

What distinguishes the Bellicon Dynamic /Athletic from other spring based rebounders?

The main difference is that the Bellicon rebounders and any other spring based rebounder on the US market is that the Bellicon's are completely silent

Also, the springs, Bellicon uses for the Dynamic and the Athletic rebounder, are of stronger material than the other companies use. They are double-conical in shape and coated with a specially tempered surface. This ensures a rounder, harmonious oscillation and a longer life-span of the springs. .  Bellicon's engineers found out how to give their rebounders the typical even bounce: They alternate between left turning and right turning springs.

When would I buy the Bellicon Dynamic and when the Bellicon Athletic rebounder?

The Bellicon Athletic is identical to the Bellicon Dynamic, only it has 12 more springs to accommodate a weight from 200 pounds to 350 pounds. In very rare cases, people also buy the Athletic rebounder if they are under 200 pounds but want to experience a very quick bounce return which they use for jogging on the rebounder.
You can also jog on a bungee band rebounder and on the Dynamic rebounder. However, each rebounder has his own bounce return. The one of the bungee band rebounder is long - so jogging on it is like jogging on sand. The one of the Dynamic is medium and the bounce return on the Athletic is very quick, like in real jogging on the street.

When should I buy a spring based rebounder and when a bungee band rebounder?

For most of the people, it is a question of "taste" - what they want to experience when rebounding that leads to their choice between a bungee band rebounder and a spring based rebounder. From our experience (the people that come to our Center to test out the rebounders) we can say that about 95% of the people who test both kinds of rebounders, choose a bungee band rebounder. There are several reasons for this:

a) The bounce on a bungee band rebounder is incomparable more fun compared to a spring based rebounder.

b)  The impact on joints and spine is lower and therefore makes rebounding possible for people with a very sensitive body system.

c)  You can get out a higher workout with a bungee band rebounder due to the higher G-Force.

If you have back pain, you will not only prefer the bounce of the bungee band rebounder, it might even be the only rebounder you can use. It is our experience that people with back pain find the bounce of spring based rebounders too hard (even the highest quality spring based rebounders, Bellicon sells).

If you have an extreme problem with Pronating (see our video clip "How to stand correctly on a rebounder" under "Video Clips" for more info) and even with anti pronating shoes you still pronate, then we recommend the Bellicon spring based rebounders for a more stable surface.
