What makes the difference
between a bad, an ordinary and a high quality rebounder is the fact that a high quality rebounder has the same amplitude when bouncing into the mat as when bouncing out of the mat. When you look at the drawing above, you can see three lines moving over and under a horizontal line. These lines represent the height and depth which occures when you bounce into and out of the rebounder mat.
The black line represents a rebounder that you do not want to use as you would hurt youself by bouncing on it. The part of the line above the horizontal line has a small amplitude and represents the up-movement of bouncing. The part under the horizontal line, which represents the down-movement bouncing, does not show a nice steady curve. You see that the line is flat. This demonstrates that when bouncing into the mat, you experience a jolt into your back as the mat of this kind of rebounder is not designed to accommodate your bouncing. It is too hard and it feels like jumping on concret. Instead of gaining health through rebounding, you hurt your spine and lower back. Unfortunately rebounders of such a low quality are the most commun used rebounders in the US. You can buy them in most sport goods stores with prices ranging from $20 to $200.
Now look at the the blue and the orange lines which represent high qualtiy rebounders. You see that the upper and the lower amplitude are of equal size and shape. The blue line is the amplitude that is produced by the Bellicon DYNAMIC rebounder and the orange line represents the bounce you experience on a Bellicon ULTIMATE or ULTIMATE MINI. You can easily recognize that both rebounders are desingned in a way that the mat receives your bounce and accompanies you to the lowest point of bouncing. You can also see in the drawing that the ULTIMATE and the ULTIMATE MINI provide a much longer and softer bounce than the DYNAMIC rebounder - which does not mean that they are better. But it clearly demonstrates that they are much softer bouncing.
And remember: THE BELLICON REBOUNDERS TAKE 85% OF THE IMPACT OUT OF YOUR JOINTS - YOU ARE LEFT WITH ONLY 15%. That feature allows nearly everybody to exercise on a rebounder!
